Majdanek Memorial
Located just outside the city of Lublin, Majdanek is one of the best-preserved Nazi German concentration and extermination camps in Europe. Established in 1941, the camp operated as a place of forced labor and mass murder, through which over 150,000 prisoners from across Europe passed. Today, the memorial site includes original camp structures such as barracks, gas chambers, and the Mausoleum containing victims’ ashes, making the visit both educational and deeply moving.
Compared to Auschwitz, Majdanek is less crowded and easier to access, offering a powerful and authentic Holocaust memorial experience without heavy commercialization.
Lublin – History and Jewish heritage
Lublin is one of eastern Poland’s most historically significant cities, known for its Old Town and long-standing Jewish heritage. Before World War II, it was an important center of Jewish learning and culture. During the visit, guests can explore key landmarks of the Old Town or focus on Jewish heritage sites connected to the city’s past.
Tour plan
The base tour starts at the designated meeting point in city centre of Warsaw (to be confirmed on the day before the tour).
Depending on the number of participants and availability, the tour may be organized by car, or partly by train and taxi.
For solo travellers, we will arrange for you to join an existing group if one is available. Alternatively, you can pay the price for 2 people to guarantee the tour, travelling partly by train and taxi.
For bookings of 2 or more people, we will arrange the most suitable transport option depending on availability.
By car: The tour starts in Warsaw, with departure from the designated meeting point. You will travel directly to Majdanek, followed by a visit to Lublin Old Town. After the visit, you will return to Warsaw city centre.
By train and taxi: You will depart from Warsaw Central railway station and travel by train to Lublin. Upon arrival, a taxi will take you to the Majdanek Memorial. After your visit, another taxi will take you to Lublin Old Town. You will then walk back to Lublin railway station for your return train to Warsaw.
At Majdanek, you will have approximately 2 hours to explore the former Nazi concentration and extermination camp independently. Afterwards, you will have approximately 1 hour of free time in Lublin Old Town to discover its main highlights at your own pace.
Please note that departure and return times may vary depending on the transportation option, traffic and train schedules.
One day before the tour, you will receive an email with the confirmed departure time, meeting point, transportation details and practical information.

This was our first time in Poland, planned around the Iron Maiden concert in Warsaw, and we wanted to experience as much WWII history as possible. From start to finish, our journey with AB Poland Travel was unforgettable. Thanks to Magda and Zuzanna’s outstanding coordination, every detail—from hotel bookings to taxi transfers—and daily schedules.
Each guide brought their own expertise and passion. Jurek and Jacek took us through Lublin, Majda nek, and Sobibór, weaving personal stories and deep historical insight into an emotional, humbling day. Wojtek led us to the Wolf’s Lair and Mamerki with an academic’s precision.
