Zalipie, a small village in southeastern Poland, is a unique and charming destination near Krakow. Renowned for its colorful tradition, village women began painting vibrant floral designs on their homes over a century ago. This folk art extends beyond house walls to include fences, wells, and even farm buildings, creating a picturesque and cheerful atmosphere.
Today, around 20 painted houses remain, with the most notable being the farm of Felicja Curyłowa, a celebrated artist whose work gained fame in the interwar period. Visitors can explore the beautifully decorated homes, a museum, and a small shop offering handmade souvenirs, making Zalipie a delightful stop for those seeking authentic cultural experiences.
Tour plan
This tour starts in Krakow. You will be picked up by our English-speaking driver from your hotel or the designated meeting point (see FAQ section below). You will visit Zalipie village with English-speaking guide. You will come back to Krakow in the afternoon. The entire tour will last around 6 hours.

A Remarkable and Deeply Moving Journey Through Poland’s History – Expertly Guided & Organized
This was our first time in Poland, planned around the Iron Maiden concert in Warsaw, and we wanted to experience as much WWII history as possible. From start to finish, our journey with AB Poland Travel was unforgettable. Thanks to Magda and Zuzanna’s outstanding coordination, every detail—from hotel bookings to taxi transfers—and daily schedules.
Each guide brought their own expertise and passion. Jurek and Jacek took us through Lublin, Majda nek, and Sobibór, weaving personal stories and deep historical insight into an emotional, humbling day. Wojtek led us to the Wolf’s Lair and Mamerki with an academic’s precision. Paweł brought Warsaw’s history alive, from the Old Town to local hangouts, Warsaw Ghetto sites, and later guided us through Treblinka and the Białowieża forest.
