Info
Zalipie is a small, picturesque village in southeastern Poland, often called “the most colorful village in the country.” This charming place is famous for its unique folk tradition — for over a hundred years, local women have been painting vibrant floral patterns on their homes, creating a living work of art that covers not only walls but also fences, wells, and even farm buildings.
Walking through Zalipie feels like stepping into an open-air art gallery. Every corner is bursting with color, and each painting reflects the villagers’ love of nature and beauty. The floral motifs, inspired by Polish countryside gardens, have become a symbol of joy, simplicity, and artistic expression.
One of the highlights of a visit is the Felicja Curyłowa Cottage Museum, the former home of the most famous local artist whose beautiful decorations helped make Zalipie known worldwide. The house, preserved as part of the Tarnów Ethnographic Museum, showcases traditional interiors and dozens of hand-painted details, giving visitors a glimpse into the everyday life and creativity of its former residents.
Zalipie is an ideal day trip from Krakow — a perfect blend of art, culture, and rural charm. Visitors can explore the painted houses, enjoy the tranquil village atmosphere, and stop by a small local shop offering handmade souvenirs inspired by this beloved Polish folk art tradition.

A Remarkable and Deeply Moving Journey Through Poland’s History – Expertly Guided & Organized
This was our first time in Poland, planned around the Iron Maiden concert in Warsaw, and we wanted to experience as much WWII history as possible. From start to finish, our journey with AB Poland Travel was unforgettable. Thanks to Magda and Zuzanna’s outstanding coordination, every detail—from hotel bookings to taxi transfers—and daily schedules.
Each guide brought their own expertise and passion. Jurek and Jacek took us through Lublin, Majda nek, and Sobibór, weaving personal stories and deep historical insight into an emotional, humbling day. Wojtek led us to the Wolf’s Lair and Mamerki with an academic’s precision. Paweł brought Warsaw’s history alive, from the Old Town to local hangouts, Warsaw Ghetto sites, and later guided us through Treblinka and the Białowieża forest. Even our long day to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Kraków with Jacek was expertly managed—an intense, meaningful experience.
Behind the scenes, Magda and the office team were incredible—quick to respond, flexible with adjustments, and genuinely committed to making our trip special. ... [read more]
