Not without reason is Lublin called “little Krakow”. It is the most important cultural and academic center of Eastern Poland. The city is also known for its Jewish heritage. Narrow streets and buildings from different time periods create a unique atmosphere of the city. Majdanek Nazi Camp is a rare example of Concentration and Extermination Camp located near population centre.

About Lublin
Lublin is the most important cultural center of Eastern Poland. The city was competing for the title of the European Capital of Culture 2016 because it presents an idea of integration, tolerance, and dialogue between cultures of the West and East. The amount of cultural festivals, galleries, theatres, places for artists is very impressive. Lublin is also a very important academic center with two famous universities: Maria Curie-Skłodowska University and John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). When summer ends, the city becomes filled with students.
Lublin is also known for its Jewish heritage. Before World War II the city used to be a thriving Jewish cultural and academic center, it even used to be called “Jewish Oxford”. As the Hebrew language was widely cultivated in Lublin, it is here that one of the first Hebrew printing houses in Poland was founded in 1578. Lublin is also home to the former headquarters of the famous Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva – one of the biggest Academies of the Sages in the world. The former Jewish district is located at the foothill of Lublin castle and is separated from the Old Town by Grodzka Gate (also known as Jewish gate). Some buildings in this area have remained in their original form to this day. An important place in the Jewish district was Castle Square – there you can see a stone plaque commemorating the layout of the old district.
During the 2-hour tour you will see Lublin's top sights: the Old Town, Lublin Castle with the Chapel of Holy Trinity, Krakow Gate, Trinity Tower (the highest viewing point in Lublin), and more.
Alternatively, you can focus on Jews-related landmarks: Chachmei Lublin Yeshiva, Old Jewish cemetery (its oldest remaining tombstone dates back to 1541), the Jewish Gate, Old Jewish Hospital, location of the Old Synagogue, and more.

A Remarkable and Deeply Moving Journey Through Poland’s History – Expertly Guided & Organized
This was our first time in Poland, planned around the Iron Maiden concert in Warsaw, and we wanted to experience as much WWII history as possible. From start to finish, our journey with AB Poland Travel was unforgettable. Thanks to Magda and Zuzanna’s outstanding coordination, every detail—from hotel bookings to taxi transfers—and daily schedules.
Each guide brought their own expertise and passion. Jurek and Jacek took us through Lublin, Majda nek, and Sobibór, weaving personal stories and deep historical insight into an emotional, humbling day. Wojtek led us to the Wolf’s Lair and Mamerki with an academic’s precision. Paweł brought Warsaw’s history alive, from the Old Town to local hangouts, Warsaw Ghetto sites, and later guided us through Treblinka and the Białowieża forest. Even our long day to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Kraków with Jacek was expertly managed—an intense, meaningful experience.
Behind the scenes, Magda and the office team were incredible—quick to respond, flexible with adjustments, and genuinely committed to making our trip special. ... [read more]
