You will have a unique chance to visit the National Park on both Polish and Belarusian side of the border. The tour also offers the opportunity to go kayaking on the Suprasl river. About Bialowieza National Park

Bialowieza National Park is a real phenomenon at a European level. The oldest national park in Poland and one of the oldest in Europe has an extremely diverse variety of flora and fauna. In the forest you will find a whole bunch of plants and animals that occur nowhere else. According to specialists, Białowieza Forest is home to 25,000 species of animals and more than 1,000 species of plants. The animals you can encounter in the forest are among others European bisons, deers, elks, wild boars, wolves and tarpanss. The multiple birds species include woodpecker, tawny owl or blackbird. The rich flora contains plants like oak, hornbeam, spruce, anemone, wild garlic and orchid, just to name a few.

Day 1

Warsaw – Bialowieza

Arrival at Warsaw Chopin airport and transfer to the accommodation in Bialowieza. A welcome bonefire or barbecue in the evening.

Overnight in Bialowieza.

Day 2

Białowieza – Narewka – Białowieza
Distance on bike – approx. 50 km

From Bialowieza you head north towards the strict reserve. After a few kilometers, you dismount your bicycles and set off for an hour walk along the Zebra Zubra path. This is your first meeting with the wild nature of the Bialowieza Forest. You go north entering the Bialowieza National Park. You reach the tower with a view of the Narewka River along the forest bike route, and then you reach the town of Narewka along the Zubrowy Trail. You see the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas and turn back to Bialowieza. On this day you also see the Open-Air Museum of Wooden Architecture in Bialowieza.

Day 3

Białowieza – Topiło – Hajnowka – Białowieza
Distance on bike – approx. 65 km

You continue exploring the Bialowieza Forest. You set off south down the Sinicka Road along the border with Belarus. Through forest paths, you reach the small town of Topilo. There is a lake of the same name that impresses with its charm and unique panorama. Then, you reach a larger city – Hajnowka. There, you visit the selected attractions: Narrow-gauge railway Hajnowka-Topilo, Park of Miniatures of Podlasie Monuments, Museum and Center of Belarusian Culture in Hajnowka as well as the Holy Trinity Cathedral there. In Bialowieza, you pass through the Palace Park, see the Grodno Governor’s Mansion and visit the Bialowieza Palace Station – a restored railway station from the times of the partitions when the Russian Tsar used to come there for hunting.

Day 4 

Trip to Belarus

Trip to Belarus: Bialowieza-Bison Zoo- Father Frost State- Ethnographic Park- Bialowieza
Distance on the bike – approx. 55 km

You head east and cross the Polish-Belarussian border. You stop at the zoo or actually open-air cages with wild animals. The most famous inhabitant there is definitely the bison, but if you want, you can spend more time there and see deers, lynx, wolves, the bears, the foxes and other species.

Then, you visit the residence of Belarussian Father Frost, opended in 2003. The residence is situated in the primeval forest, which makes a special atmosphere around it. Here you will see houses decorated with hand-carved wooden fretwork and sculptures of fairytale characters.

Last but not least, you visit the Museum of Folk Life and Old Technologies. It contains rural utensils and items. In the museum you can become familiar with the culture, traditions and everyday life of the inhabitants of the Bialowieza Forest from the 19th century. You will get acquainted with the process of brewing local vodka samogonka (moonshine) and you are also invited to taste it.

Day 5

Rudnia – Suprasl
Distance on bike – approx. 60 km

You leave the Bialowieza Forest. Early in the morning you set off to Rudnia. In this small village there is a beautiful, large beach with an observation tower. You spend time sunbathing and swimming in a beautiful lake Siemianowka. After time at the beach*, you get on the bike and head towards Suprasl, which is a local gem of Eastern Poland and the ultimate one-day trip destination for people from that region. You move on along the Suprasl river passing villages with traditional buildings. Another interesting point is the lookout tower on Kopna Gora. From here, you can admire beautiful panorama of the Knyszynska Forest. In Suprasl you see the Gardener’s House, a beautiful example of local architecture. On your route, there is a Suprasl monastery with a gate-bell tower and the Icon of the Mother of God, as well as the monumental Buchholtz Palace. If you wish, you can visit the famous Museum of Icons.

*Instead of time at the beach, you can go kayaking on the Suprasl river.

Day 6

Suprasl – Puszcza Knyszynska – Białystok – Suprasl
Distance on bike – approx. 50 km

You start the last day of the trip with the beautiful blue Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Suprasl. Then you head east. You delve into the Knyszynska Forest and small villages to learn more about the folklore of the region. An interesting point will be the church of St. Lukasz Bishop of Crimea – a small, charming wooden building. Then you set off towards Bialystok. In the city you will see the Branicki Palace with beautiful gardens.
